ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION

WHO CAN AUDITION: Dancers age 5 by 9/1/24 through Level 6 are encouraged to attend. Students interested in being cast must attend the audition. We are able to accommodate most dancers with a role. Bay Area Youth Ballet company members in Levels 4 - 6 receive priority casting over dancers in Levels 4 - 6, but not a company member.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dancers must attend the audition in dancewear, proper shoes, and females should have their hair in ballet bun. BABC level color leotards do not need to be worn for the audition. Dancers with at least 1 year of pointe experience (Beginning Pointe II)through Advanced Pointe should be prepared to dance en pointe during the audition.

WHAT TO BRING: We recommend completed the audition registration form in advance for the smoothest audition day experience. Otherwise, please have audition registration form completed and ready to turn in upon arrival to the audition. ALL dancers must bring a printed photo (small - approx. 4x6 or wallet) to the audition. Dancers should be in dancewear, as noted above.

WHAT DOES THE AUDITION ENTAIL: Upon arrival, dancers will check in, turn in audition registration paperwork, if not yet submitted, and turn in their photo. They will then receive an audition number and be measured for costuming purposes. Being measured for costumes is not an indication that the dancer will be cast in the production, but is done on audition day to help expedite the casting process. During the audition, dancers are given snippets of choreography to demonstrate. The audition is set up as a formal audition, as part of the learning experience for attending dancers. Each audition group is set up to be appropriate for the ages and levels present. All audition groups are closed to viewing.

BAY AREA YOUTH BALLET | Dancers in Levels 4A through Level 6 that are interested in joining Bay Area Youth Ballet for the first time (new company members) will complete a BAYB agreement during audition registration. Bay Area Youth Ballet company members in Levels 4 - 6 receive priority casting over dancers in Levels 4 - 6, but not a company member.
